The light-emitting diode (LED) is one of today’s most energy-efficient and rapidly developing lighting technologies. Quality LED light bulbs last longer, are more durable, and offer superior light quality to all other types of lighting currently on the market. LEDs are available for a wide range of residential, commercial, and industrial lighting and have applications for everything from high bay warehouse lighting to refrigerated display cases. So, what are they?
LEDs are each about the size of a fleck of pepper and typically use a mix of red, green, and blue LEDs to produce white light. The “color” of the light can be adjusted throughout the red to blue spectrum, providing a wide assortment of options for nearly any application with 3500-4000 kelvins generally used most often in office settings. Another advantage of LED lighting is that they are directional, reducing the need for reflectors and diffusers to trap light and avoiding the wasted energy and heat of a standard 360 degree emitting fluorescent light tube which can release up to 90% of their energy as heat instead of light.
When investigating an LED replacement plan for your business, there are generally two paths forward. The first is to replace only your fluorescent tubes themselves. LED replacement bulbs exist for nearly any type of currently installed lighting fixture and can even be used to replace 40, 60, or 75-watt incandescent bulbs. While this is generally the less expensive path, it does require significant modification to the existing ballasts and tombstones in your currently installed fluorescent fixtures. A full replacement of your business’s lighting fixtures with LED fixtures costs slightly more, but results in a more efficient light with industry warranties of 10 years or more while also substantially cutting down on maintenance costs by eliminating the need to constantly replace burned out bulbs in your ceilings and overhead spaces. Taken together, the energy efficiency, maintenance savings, and utility rebates and incentives typically result in project payback periods of 2 years or less.
While LED lights are highly efficient on their own, they’re impact is truly felt when combined with smart lighting control systems. Dimmable switch systems can allow you to set your lights at less than 100%, adding years to their life expectancy while motion sensors ensure your lights are only on when they need to be. Daylight harvesting sensors can be placed near windows and automatically adjust your lights to optimum levels throughout the day as daylight and weather conditions change.
Through our industry partners, Innovation Energy provides a full catalog of LED lighting to suit any need, including indoor lighting, outdoor lighting, commercial, architectural, and even LED horticultural grow lights. We offer a full solution for your business and can provide guidance on lumens, temperature, efficiencies and payback periods for either LED bulb replacements or a full fixture renovation. We also offer a spectrum of smart lighting control systems from basic wall stats to an integrated daylight harvesting and motion sensor solution.
Interior Commercial Lighting
Standard 2×2 and 2×4 troffer lighting is a quick replacement option for your existing drop ceiling florescent lighting. Available in both recessed flat panel and suspended linear parabolic, these lights provide a quick and effective way to dramatically increase energy efficiency with industry leading warranties of 10 years or more.
Interior Bay Lighting
High quality bay lighting of your warehouse or factory floor is critical to safe and efficient operation of your business. High Bay LED lights provide bright, energy efficient lighting while generating far less heat than florescent versions. With expected lifetimes of 10-15 years, you will also avoid all the extra labor of constantly sending personnel out on lifts to replace burned out florescent tubes.
Commercial Exterior Lighting
Parking lot and other exterior lighting has long been a significant drain on energy and a source of ambient light pollution in the surrounding area. LED external lighting is far more efficient and coupled with lighting control systems, can be much more responsive than typical outdoor lighting. With applications ranging from stadium lighting, canopy, wallpack, roadway lighting, area lighting, shoebox, and floodlights, there is an LED option to replace nearly any kind of conventional light your business may have.
Lighting Control Systems
Smart lighting control systems can vastly increase the efficiency of your lighting system while adding little to the overall payback period. Wireless occupancy sensors ensure that rooms are only illuminated when necessary while wireless controllers allow lighting to be controlled from any location. Daylight sensors will analyze the amount of daylight entering the room at any given time and adjust the brightness of your lights to compensate, ensuring that no more energy is used than needed. The best part? All of this technology can be installed wirelessly, reducing labor costs and making future changes or upgrades to the system quick and painless.
